Nestled into the hillside of downtown Charlotte Amalie on the island of St. Thomas, the Pink Palm Hotel debuts at the site of the former Smith’s Fancy guesthouse. Owner Brent Pelton and president of operations Stephanie Carballo led the transformation of the midcentury gem, converting it into an Art Deco-style tropical retreat.
“We took inspiration from the 1940s and ’50s use of the property,” Pelton says. “That’s where the inspiration came from to make the property a bit eclectic in the different materials, colors, and motifs used. We also took inspiration from our location—we wanted the Pink Palm to feel tropical and have the guests feel connected to the place they’re visiting, but with a modern and fun design.”
